Heizer's 'City' earthwork opens to virtual visitors via free browser game

Developer Lily Belmira released "City by Michael Heizer [Free Version]" on itch.io, playable in mobile and desktop browsers with no download. Heizer's Nevada desert earthwork — begun 1972, opened 2022 under visitation caps managed by the Triple Aught Foundation — admits limited in-person visitors annually. ARTnews reported the release on 13 August 2026. The walking-simulator game requires no reservation.
