WhatsApp Tests On-Device Scam Detection That Preserves End-to-End Encryption

WhatsApp launched Scam Alert in limited beta on August 12, 2026. The feature runs a machine-learning model directly on your phone to flag suspected scam messages in chats. No message content is sent to Meta servers — all detection happens at the endpoint, preserving end-to-end encryption. Users can block, report, or dismiss each warning.
