MIT School of Architecture and Planning reopens in converted 1895 storage warehouse

MIT's School of Architecture and Planning has reopened in the Metropolitan Storage Warehouse in Cambridge, Massachusetts, MIT announced on 12 August 2026. Diller Scofidio + Renfro converted the 1894 brick building — once storing pianos, carriages and furs — into 195,000 square feet of studios and public space. Planning began in December 2018.
