
Former Bishop of Broome Convicted of 13 Sex Offences Against Young Indigenous Men
An Australian jury convicted Christopher Saunders, former Bishop of Broome and a senior Catholic cleric, of 13 sex offences against two young Indigenous men on 13 August 2026 in Western Australia's District Court. He was acquitted of six other charges. A sentencing hearing before Judge Massey is pending. The Vatican's separate church investigation continues.
