Netflix bets six episodes on a 1901 Australian novel for its 2026 slate

Netflix's six-episode adaptation of Miles Franklin's 1901 novel 'My Brilliant Career' is set to premiere later in 2026, part of its Australia and New Zealand slate. Liz Doran adapted; Alyssa McClelland and Anne Renton co-directed. Filmed in Adelaide. Franklin's novel, previously filmed in 1979, later endowed Australia's Miles Franklin Literary Award. The series tests whether a 125-year-old Australian classic lands with a global streaming audience.
