Orange Tree Theatre cancels gala and outdoor Shakespeare as London hits 39°C

The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond cancelled a matinee fundraising gala and an outdoor Love's Labour's Lost on 13 August 2026 as London temperatures were forecast to hit 39°C. Artistic director Tom Littler said proceeding would have been "reckless for both actors and audience." WhatsOnStage reported these as the first weather-driven cancellations of London's theatre season this summer.
