Ledecky wins 1500m freestyle on home soil as Pallister closes in

Katie Ledecky won the 1500m freestyle at the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine on August 13, touching in 15:36.09 — her first international medal on home soil. Australia's Lani Pallister took silver in a personal best 15:38.62. Pallister finished just 0.36 seconds behind Ledecky in the 800m freestyle, the smallest margin of victory Ledecky has recorded in that event.
