Tottenham block Arsenal move for captain Romero, sell him to Atletico for £34.2m

Tottenham accepted Atletico Madrid's £34.2m bid for captain Cristian Romero after refusing to sell him to Arsenal, per BBC Sport. Spurs inserted a 15% sell-on clause — a percentage of any future fee returned to the selling club. Romero, who signed a contract to 2029 last August, leaves after five seasons and 156 appearances. The fee is below the £42.5m Spurs paid Atalanta in 2021.
