Wachowski says financiers won't back $10m film over all-trans cast

Lilly Wachowski says financiers "really don't want to make" her dystopian thriller *The Hunted* because of its "wall-to-wall trans cast," she told KCRW's *The Business* podcast (Deadline, 12 August 2026). The $10 million film, co-written with Mickey Ray Mahoney, is in development with Anarchists United and Natasha Lyonne's Ariadne banner. It remains without announced financing. Wachowski's credits span the *Matrix* franchise.
