Matrix Director Wachowski Cannot Raise $10 Million for All-Trans-Cast Thriller

Lilly Wachowski, co-director of The Matrix, says financiers have passed on her thriller The Hunted, budgeted at roughly $10 million, because of its all-transgender cast. Wachowski made the remarks on KCRW's The Business podcast, Variety reported. The Matrix grossed over $460 million worldwide. The Hunted, co-written with Mickey Ray Mahoney, is in development through Anarchists United and Natasha Lyonne's Ariadne banner but has no green light.
