Clayton Korte completes Corten-steel vineyard barn in Cayucos, California

Texas studio Clayton Korte has completed the Cayucos Ridge Barn, a 4,315-square-foot (400-square-metre) equipment shed for a 150-acre Syrah vineyard in Cayucos, California. The wood-framed structure is clad entirely in Corten weathering steel — an alloy that forms a protective patina — to resist wildfires and reduce maintenance. Sliding doors were salvaged from the nearby Saxum Winery. The project has won awards from the Texas Society of Architects and the Society of American Registered Architects.
