RamAIn Uses AI to Automate Old Business Software Without Direct Connections
RamAIn, a startup backed by Y Combinator, is automating older enterprise software systems using AI agents that mimic what a human user would do—clicking buttons, filling forms, and navigating screens. Unlike traditional automation tools that rely on direct software connections (called APIs), RamAIn's approach works with systems that don't offer these connections. The company claims its AI agents are 10 times faster than similar existing tools. Instead of using brittle automation rules tied to specific button locations (which break when software updates change the interface), RamAIn's agents learn and recognize UI patterns more flexibly, requiring less maintenance. The system also includes a communication layer that lets humans step in and guide the AI when it encounters confusing situations, making it more reliable than fully automated approaches.
