Root scraps England midnight curfew on return as Test captain
Joe Root has abolished England's midnight curfew across all men's squads, telling players to "be adults" and arguing "I don't think they work." The ECB confirmed the move. Root, 35, returns as Test captain after Ben Stokes retired, and will lead the three-match Pakistan series with Marcus Trescothick as interim coach. Stephen Fleming takes over as red-ball head coach thereafter.
