Mel Gibson says Lethal Weapon 5 script is done, plans to direct, but Warner Bros. takeover blocks production

Mel Gibson told Collider at Fan Expo Boston that he and Richard Wenk completed the "Lethal Weapon 5" script after director Richard Donner's death in 2021, and intends to direct — what he says was Donner's wish. Gibson called the project "tied up in some kind of industrial film hell," citing Warner Bros.'s acquisition by Paramount Skydance as the hold-up.
