KFA apologises after buried audit reveals sexual favours were paid for visiting referees

A 2016 South Korean government audit, buried until broadcaster JTBC obtained it, found KFA staff used association credit cards to pay roughly 5.6m won (£2,927) for sexual entertainment at massage parlours for foreign referees officiating 2014 World Cup and 2012 Olympics qualifiers. A KFA official told JTBC it was "common practice back in those days." The KFA apologised on August 8, 2026.
