Shirley Cruz will star in 'The She-Devil,' a feature in development from directors Clara Ferrer and Tainá Bevilacqua, adapting Eli Lemos de Oliveira's autofiction novel. Set in 1990s working-class Rio de Janeiro, it follows Araí, an 11-year-old trans boy. Capivara Movies produces; Retrato Filmes will distribute in Brazil. Variety reported the news on 12 August 2026.
