Tom Newlands returns with second novel 'Something Like Happiness' in August 2026

Tom Newlands' second novel, Something Like Happiness, publishes in August 2026. It follows Frazer and Caitlin, parents of a five-year-old autistic son in a Scottish new town, after a violent argument ruptures their relationship. The book extends the neurodivergent focus of his 2024 debut, Only Here, Only Now, which centred on a teenager with undiagnosed ADHD. The Guardian reviewed it on publication day.
