Lord Speaker warns peers: AI deepfakes used to impersonate Royal Household staff

Lord Forsyth of Drumlean, the Lord Speaker, warned peers in a letter seen by The Telegraph that scammers and suspected state actors are using cloned voices, doctored photographs and deepfake video calls to impersonate Royal Household staff and foreign dignitaries. The approaches target WhatsApp and Signal. No member of the Royal Family was indicated as contacted.
