UK PM Convenes Cobra as Heat, Wildfires, and Drought Hit at Once
The UK prime minister will chair a Cobra emergency meeting on 12 August 2026 as extreme heat, wildfires, and drought strain public services all at once. Temperatures may hit 38C Thursday — the second such meeting this year. Ministers from Defra, the Home Office, and health will attend. The Met Office forecasts the UK's hottest summer on record.
