The Nikkei 225 closed at 70,062 on June 30, 2026 — 62% above the 43,000 median analyst target Reuters compiled in August 2025. By August 11 it sat at 67,112, still about 47% above where analysts expected the year to end. Even its 52-week low of 41,835 nearly matched that forecast. Analysts badly underestimated this rally.
