HBO renews Harry Potter for Season Two before Season One airs

HBO renewed its Harry Potter series for a second season in May, ahead of any broadcast — a straight-to-series vote of confidence, meaning no pilot was tested first. Season One, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, premieres 25 December. Nicholas Hoult joins Season Two as Gilderoy Lockhart, the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher (The Hollywood Reporter, 11 August 2026).
