AMC and Regal back Paramount's $111 billion Warner Bros. takeover, contradicting their own lobby

AMC CEO Adam Aron and Regal CEO Eduardo Acuna support Paramount's proposed $111 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, Variety reported on 11 August 2026. Their stance contradicts Cinema United, the exhibition lobby fighting the deal. Aron has backed it since CinemaCon in April; Cinema United chief Michael O'Leary calls it "harmful to exhibition, consumers and the entire entertainment ecosystem."
