CBS installs JJ Watt as lead NFL analyst as Romo stays on indefinite leave

CBS has moved JJ Watt, previously its No. 2 analyst, into Tony Romo's lead NFL game analyst slot alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson for the start of the 2026 season in September. Romo was suspended "until further notice" after a 23 July OWI arrest in Wisconsin. CBS Sports CEO David Berson said there is "no timetable" for a final decision. Romo's court date is 21 September in Milwaukee.
