Heatherwick scales back Louisville Belvedere redesign after cost and safety concerns

Heatherwick Studio's updated Belvedere design for Louisville, Kentucky, drops the grass-covered wave form proposed in February 2025 for a performance pavilion and looping pathway. Local outlet WLKY attributes the revision to expense and safety concerns. Community meetings in late 2025 shaped the changes. Mayor Craig Greenberg unveiled the design on 11 August 2026. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.
