Colombia earthquake collapses tower of Manizales Cathedral, national monument and tallest church

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake on 10 August 2026 partially collapsed a side tower of the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Manizales, Colombia. The Neo-Gothic church, 119m tall and a national monument since 1984, houses 141 stained-glass windows imported from France, Italy and the Netherlands. It was designed by French architect Julien Polti and built 1928–39. The quake killed over 200 people across western Colombia.
