Largest Private Hiroshige Collection Outside Japan Heads to Christie's New York

Christie's New York will auction 850 Utagawa Hiroshige prints on 15 September — the Alan Medaugh Collection, sale 25167. The Financial Times reported it as the largest Hiroshige holding in private hands outside Japan. Most surviving Hiroshige prints sit in small, scattered groups; single-owner troves of this scale almost never reach the open market. Christie's has not yet published lot estimates.
