Ingebrigtsen wins 5,000m gold in Birmingham return from surgery

Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen won men's 5,000m gold at the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships on 11 August, taking a sprint finish in 13:15.29. Germany's Florian Bremm and France's Etienne completed the podium. The title is Ingebrigtsen's first major championship appearance after surgery. Birmingham is staging the European Championships for the first time, running 10–16 August.
