Weston Foundation gives CDN $4 million to the Giller Prize, the largest gift in the award's history

The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation has given CDN $4 million to the Giller Foundation, announced 10 August 2026. The Giller Foundation called it the largest single gift in the prize's history. The multi-year commitment, made in honour of the late Hilary Weston, funds the CDN $100,000 prize purse, jury process, shortlist promotion and finalist events. The Weston family's cumulative giving now totals CDN $5 million, per Publishers Weekly.
