Roku documentary exposes 21-year WNBA maternity leave gap

The WNBA did not offer fully paid maternity leave until 2018 — 21 years after its inaugural season. 'Gamechangers: Mother/Athlete', a Roku Original directed by Christine Turner and premiered at the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, examines that gap through Sheryl Swoopes, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Bria Hartley, Natalie Achonwa and Allison Feaster. It streams free on The Roku Channel in the fall (Variety, 11 August 2026).
