Pandemic supply chain failure forced mirrored-roof pivot at ISTA's VISTA centre

Studio Maks founder Marieke Kums told Dezeen the VISTA Science Experience Centre's roof was originally designed as translucent. Pandemic-era disruptions made that unfeasible, pushing the architects toward thousands of ceiling mirrors that reflect the surrounding park and sky into the Klosterneuburg building. The completed centre has won the 2026 Austrian Metal Construction Award.
