Four of the fifteen deaths in September's Ebola outbreak in the DRC were healthcare workers—nearly a third. When so many medical staff die, it usually means they lack proper protective gear, training, or face too many patients at once. Each loss weakens the response and frightens other workers away, making it harder to contain the virus.
