A palm-sized blue octopus found near the Galápagos in 2015 has reshaped how scientists classify an entire octopus family. Researchers had assumed this group lived only in cold Southern Ocean waters and grew quite large. The new species, discovered in warm tropical depths, proves the family is far more widespread and smaller than previously thought.
