Deezer Blocks AI Music From Payments, Sells Fraud Detection Tool to Industry

Deezer has stopped paying out royalties on up to 85% of AI-generated music streams, removing fake content from its payment system. The French music service is now selling its detection technology to other platforms facing the same problem. AI music makes up 44% of daily uploads but only 1–3% of actual listening, meaning fraudulent uploads dilute the money pool for human artists. This marks the first major streaming service treating AI fraud as an industry-wide infrastructure issue rather than a solo problem.
