PM says Nash won't be a minister after maternity leave insult

Stuart Nash quit as a NZ First candidate on 22 July 2026 after calling National MP Katie Nimon lazy for taking maternity leave. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said Nash would not serve as a minister in his government. NZ First leader Winston Peters accepted the resignation within hours.
