FBI Warned About Trump Attack Risk, But Shooting Still Happened at Pennsylvania Rally

The FBI's terrorism prevention team warned that former President Donald Trump could be in danger on July 3, 2024. They told the Secret Service (the group that protects presidents) to send specially trained sharpshooters to Trump's event in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. Sharpshooters are trained marksmen positioned to spot and stop threats from a distance. Even though these sharpshooters were there, a man named Thomas Crooks was still able to open fire from a high position, killing one person and injuring three others. Because the FBI's warning came 10 days before the attack, people are now asking why the threat wasn't stopped and whether the different government agencies communicated well enough with each other to prevent it.
