Meta Adds Parental Controls to Threads Even Though Its Own Research Says They Don't Work Well

Meta added tools letting parents limit time and block overnight use on Threads, starting July 21, 2026, with a U.S. rollout the week of July 27. In February 2026, Meta's own research found such tools do not effectively reduce teens' compulsive social media use. Threads has 500 million monthly users.
