UK surrogacy law is 40 years old — and reform just got delayed

The UK delayed planned surrogacy reform in 2025, even though it had agreed to changes in 2023. Under current law, the woman who carries the baby is legally the mother at birth — not the parents who arranged it. They must wait months for a court order to become legal parents.
