Google Is Building a New Chip Designed Just for Its AI, Gemini

Alphabet is building a custom computer chip, "Frozen v2," designed to run its Gemini AI faster and more cheaply by building the AI's inner workings directly into the hardware, per The Information and Reuters on July 20, 2026. Due in 2028, it could run Gemini six to ten times more efficiently. The trade-off: if Gemini changes, the chip's design advantage disappears.
