Seven local councils to be replaced by three new ones

The government said on 16 July 2026 that seven local councils across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire will close and be replaced by three new ones from 1 April 2028. Voters are expected to elect councillors for the new councils in May 2027, giving the incoming teams under a year to get ready.
