Greens want a new government-owned power company called KiwiPower

The Green Party wants to create KiwiPower, a power company owned by the government, costing $980 million over four years. Co-leaders Chlöe Swarbrick and Marama Davidson announced it at Dunedin's Gasworks Museum. Swarbrick said 200,000 households can't afford heating while four big companies control most of the market. The money would come from new taxes on wealth, corporations, and inheritances.
