One Minister Now Controls Syria's Police and Intelligence Services

On July 19, 2026, Syria's president gave Interior Minister Anas Khattab control of the National Security Bureau, a body that oversees all of Syria's security agencies. Khattab kept his policing job too, and the new intelligence chief, Abdul Qader Tahan, now works under him. Police, security coordination, and intelligence all answer to one person.
