Google Adds AI Assistant to Chrome for All U.S. Desktop Users

Google has made its Gemini AI assistant available to all U.S. desktop Chrome users. The assistant can answer questions and automate tasks directly in the browser, building on features rolled out to paying subscribers in May. Google is embedding AI into Chrome rather than asking users to switch to a separate app — a strategy that has worked well for the company in the past.
