New Electric Delivery Bike Lets Riders Swap Batteries Instead of Waiting to Charge

A company called Also, which split off from electric vehicle maker Rivian, has designed an electric cargo bike with batteries that can be removed and replaced quickly. Instead of stopping to charge a dead battery, delivery workers can simply swap in a fully charged battery and keep working. The company keeps charged batteries in a central location, similar to how gas stations work, while the bikes stay out making deliveries. The bike also has special features like a belt drive (quieter and lower-maintenance than a chain) and a design that's easy to step over, making it practical for delivering packages around busy city streets. This system is especially useful for delivery companies, where keeping workers and bikes moving all day directly affects how much money they make.
