The World's Stored Oil Dropped in the Third Quarter of 2026, U.S. Agency Says
Stored oil worldwide fell by an average of 1.9 million barrels a day in the third quarter of 2026, the U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates. It projects another 0.7 million-barrel-a-day drop in the fourth quarter. A per-day figure measures flow, like a running tap, so the gap came from stored oil. Less stored oil means less cushion for supply disruptions.
