10,000 protesters detained in India

Authorities across India detained at least 10,000 protesters, Cockroach Janata Party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said Oct. 8. The party says those held, including students, local groups and opposition supporters, want top election official Gyanesh Kumar to quit after 130 million names were cut from lists of who can vote. Spokesman Deepak Baliyan is in custody.
