
COP31 leader wants climate funding to top NATO's 5% defence goal
Turkey's climate minister Murat Kurum, set to lead November's COP31 climate summit in Antalya, says rich countries should spend far more on climate action than NATO's 5% of economic output defence target. 'The climate issue is the security issue,' he told the Guardian, adding the shift away from fossil fuels like oil and gas is already underway.
