Sugi House in Kyoto puts bedrooms downstairs, living space upstairs

Kyoto-based Ujizono Architects has placed three bedrooms on Sugi House's enclosed ground floor in eastern Kyoto, Japan, Dezeen reported on 9 October 2026. A rear staircase leads upstairs. The first-floor living, kitchen and dining sits under a gabled ceiling, a ceiling following the roof pitch, lit by clerestory windows, high windows near the peak.
