Texas's top lawyer Ken Paxton, running for Senate as a Republican, told donors at a private September meeting in Washington, D.C., that the Iran war and gas and diesel prices are hurting Republicans before midterms, the elections, in audio obtained by Axios and reported Oct. 7. 'It's not tariffs ... it's the war, it's gas prices, it's diesel,' he said.
