US warplanes leave UK base quickly after threat warning
12 US B-1 warplanes left Britain's RAF Fairford for the US on Oct. 4, Pentagon confirmed, after US officials cited an Iran-backed threat. Downing Street said Oct. 5 the base is safe. Fairford was used for US strikes on Iran earlier in 2026, which Iran's Revolutionary Guards called a fair target. Some left so fast air fuel trucks were scrambled.
