US pulls 12 B-1 bombers from UK base after threat warning

12 US B-1 bombers left RAF Fairford for America on Oct. 4, the Pentagon confirmed, after US officials cited an Iran-backed threat. Downing Street said Oct. 5 the base is secure. Fairford hosted US strikes on Iran earlier in 2026, which Iran's Revolutionary Guards called a legitimate target. Some left so fast refueling tankers — refuel planes — were scrambled.
